Three weeks but the obvious signs do not last that long.

The heat period generally depends on the dog breed. I have a pitbull and I believe most cycles are just slightly different, a.i.; a little longer/shorter.
A b*tch will go into heat approximately for 3 weeks. the 1st week she will not bleed, just be slightly emotional, 2nd week she will bleed the entire time, and the 3rd week she will no longer be bleeding but will be in the breeding stage. I don't know if it will last as long with a yorkie, as they are smaller. Anyways, they only go into heat twice a year, once in the winter time and once in the spring. If they appear to be bleeding longer than 3 weeks, or go into heat more than twice a year take them to the vet as something may be wrong.
