I smell something burning. Oh, wait, no. That's not straw, it's just the Wiccer Man. Anyway, to answer your question, I don't think that is the agenda of American atheists - atheism not being religion aside, I think they just want separation of church and state to be upheld, and for the country's laws to reflect the founding fathers' desire for a secular country.

Firstly, Atheism is NOT a religion. It is a complete lack of one. Religions involve dedication to specific idols and churches and such; but in Atheism we have no mass to make, no prayers to state, and no lives to take.

As for the state of religion in America, the answer is NO. The constitution SPECIFICALLY says that there is to be no establishment of beliefs to define America or anything about it. We as Atheists are trying to make other people think and become Atheists as well, but America is the way it should be.

A secular state is not an atheistic state. Only the intellectually dishonest or the intellectually lacking claim otherwise.

Atheism by definition is the absence of a religion.

Good luck with that, when most Americans would elect Usama bin Laden president if he were running against pretty much any atheist.

I don't think so.
Atheism would be gone when all the religion in this world is gone.
They're not planning to become dominant or anything, unlike other religions.

A religion with no god? Now THAT is an interesting concept! Just one question - how do you worship something that you don't believe in? Or do you venerate the fact that you don't believe? I don't think atheists are trying to make their beliefs a state religion - I think they are trying to make us all THINK.

Lou Reed: "Straw man, goin' straight to the Devil ..."

(full lyrics below - Christians will enjoy):

We who have so much to you who have so little
to you who don't have anything at all
We who have so much more than any one man does need
and you who don't have anything at all, ah
Does anybody need another million dollar movie
does anybody need another million dollar star
Does anybody need to be told over and over
spitting in the wind comes back at you twice as hard

Strawman, going straight to the devil
Strawman, going straight to hell
Strawman, going straight to the devil
Strawman, Strawman
Strawman, Strawman, yes

Does anyone really need a billion dollar rocket
does anyone need a $60,000 car
Does anyone need another President
or the sins of Swaggart parts 6, 7, 8, and 9, ah
Does anyone need another politician
caught with his pants down money sticking in his hole
Does anyone need another racist preacher
spittin' in the wind can only do you harm, wow

Strawman, going straight to the devil
Strawman, going straight to hell
Strawman, going straight to the devil
Strawman, Strawman
Strawman, Strawman

Does anyone need another faulty shuttle
blasting off to the Moon, Venus or Mars
Does anyone need another self-righteous rock and roll singer
whose nose he says has led him straight to God
Does anyone need yet another blank skyscraper
If you're like me I'm sure a minor miracle will do
A flaming sword or maybe a gold ark floating up the Hudson
When you spit in the wind it comes right back at you

Strawman, going straight to the devil
Strawman, going straight to hell
Strawman, going straight to the devil
Strawman, Strawman, Strawman
Strawman, Strawman

No. We just want separation of church and state. I personally don't care what others believe, just as long as they stay out of my business.

I hope not, that would be doing the same thing that atheists accuse Christians of doing.
