I can see where u are heading with this. U probably saw some christians handing out tracts in front of your child's school. But u must understand the key difference between an atheist & a christian.
Not believing in something because of lack of tangibility takes no imagination, no creativity & no truism & the odds of being wrong is greater than a person who believes.
It is easy to say that something doesnt exist. But can anyone prove that it really doesnt? Five hundred years ago, cars & aeroplanes didnt exist & anyone mentioning horseless carriages or carriages that flew on their own would've been stoned. Now vehicles are the norm.
So preaching & teaching the non-existence of any entity at all demands much more proof than a person teaching its existence. For that disbelieving person have to prove that there is absolutely no doubt at all that the entity doesnt exist, can never exist & that person must have to have irrefutable proof to back his claim.
With God, that is not possible for there are millions of people, educated & non-educated, from leaders of nations to the homeless that testify daily that God do exist. In fact there are more people who believe, than there are that doesnt. And in a democratic society u would know what that means.
I for one do not believe in aliens. But I would never force others 2 accept this view because there is always a possibility that they do.
After all, what can be my argument against aliens not existing. "Duh...never see one yet!" or " Have u ever seen one?"
I cannot prove that they cannot exist just because of some mis-translated transcripts or because I never met one.
All the same reasons that atheists have for not believing in God.
I said all that 2 explain why in answer 2 your question I would call the police & contact the authorities if any atheist dare hand out copies of Richard Dawkins nonsense in front of my child's school.

I would hope you would respect their right to do so, especially if the atheists were fellow students of the child's. I'm sure most atheists would settle for a copy of the book in a high school library. I find this especially amusing, given how aggressive many Christians are with tracts. I know, because I was one of them. I was even part of a small group that climbed up on the roof of my high school and dropped tracts over the outside eating area at lunch! *blush* And guess what? My pastor loved it!

As one who acknowledges God but does not demand others too, I find this question quite provocative, in a good way. I notice some of the answers are revealing a great truth about some who call themselves Christian. Revealing indeed.

BTW, I believe all ideas should be discussed, shared and disseminated in academia, that is how we learn to think.

I live in the United States, freedom of speech and the right to gather is guaranteed under the Constitution. I would simply tell my children the truth. My children were encouraged to read scientific material, even evolution. They were encouraged to question. God is not afraid of questions, He has all the answers. They made up their own minds - both are now Christians.

My son (an atheist) was pretty upset when he was presented with a copy of the NT in school~no kidding, they pass them out in 7th grade. We didn't make an issue of it, he just gave it to someone who would use it.

To answer your question, I'd have to say that a near riot would break out, the newspapers would be notified, and all types of hell would be raised should the atheists try such a stunt. Kinda makes you want to give it a go, doesn't it?

I would have just as much of a problem with it as I would with people handing out Bibles at school. It's not allowed, and I would not approve.
Students aren't allowed to either hand out Bibles or any other kind of religious information, and they're not allowed to hand out information on atheism either.
It has no place at school.

Probably nothing. I think children would firgure out that Dawkins talks alot, but doesn't have much to say. I have yet to read a decently written antethis to a Christian apologetic. What is written by everyone is defining terms incorrectly. Richard Dawkins doesn't really know what he is talking about from the works I have read of his.

Return the next day with copies of a New Testament.

I've never really seen any Atheists do something pathetic like that except Christians. They always do something like that and expects respect, so they shouldn't really get too angry about it.

The Christians are insanely devoted to killing doctors, crashing into clinics and so forth. There is a saying; Religion is not insanity but it is the stuff that insanity is made of.
