I could not believe what i had read in some answers when a woman asked a very serious question about abortion.
So you say that you should not have an abortion to save your own life? So you would rather have your kid(s) motherless and leave your family behide?
To people that claim abortion is murder well newsflash it is not! It is a medical procedure in stopping pregnancy just like how your birth control pills you take does. A fetus is not a baby until it is alive and breathing. Every woman has the right to choose and whether you like it or not abortion is 100% legal so get over it.

Taking birth control pills is stopping you from getting pregnant but why would you want to do that since you feel so strongly about bringing children into this world

HOW DOES A FETUS BREATHE?
"I am wondering how the baby breathes while in the amniotic fluid? How can the baby breathe in water?"

Many people ponder this, as I get this question from time to time. The answer is: he/she doesn’t. A baby’s first breath usually happens at birth when he begins to cry. While in the womb, his lungs are filled with fluid and are not involved in supplying oxygen to his body. Baby gets his oxygen from the mother, via the umbilical cord. He also gets his nutrients from mother the same way. This is why it is important that a pregnant mother eats healthy food, and breathes healthy air (i.e. don’t smoke).

My mother had an abortion about 15 years ago. Basically, her doctor told her that she could try and carry the baby and probably end up having a miscarriage. But she could also carry the baby to term and risk herself and/or the baby dying during delivery. My mom chose to have an abortion. She has 4 other children at home and had suffered a miscarriage the year before. She barely had the money to pay for my sister's funeral. To this day, my sister does not have a headstone. I agree with my mother's decision. It was the choice to lose one child that she didn't know, had never seen, or even felt as opposed to possibly losing the child at around 7,8, or 9 months after she had come to feel a bond with that child. It was a choice to have an abortion or possibly leave 4 other children motherless. It was a choice to possibly bury another child in a basically unmarked grave. My mother regrets that abortion to this day, but as she watches us grow up and see's us begin to have our children, she believes it was well worth it. I would do the same thing for my child and future children.

Edit: Abortion is murder.......that's what everyone says. So you're saying that if a woman's body rejects the baby resulting in a miscarriage that would be murder. According to your philosophy, you are. The woman's body did it, that would make her a murderer, correct? Also, explain to me how it is murder exactly. If that woman was to try to deliver that child, it would not survive. I do not agree with late term abortion, because yes, that child could possibly survive on it's own, but early-term abortion is not murder. The fetus could not survive on it's own, therefore it is not a living, breathing human being. I don't like the woman that use abortion as birth control, getting 5+ abortions because they are stupid, but it is every woman's personal choice. That fetus is in their body, attached to their body, therefore making it a part of THEIR body, making it THEIR decision and choice.

A very interesting theory that a fetus is not a baby until it is alive and breathing. However, then society has some contridictions then. I have a newsflash for you first off it is considered two counts of manslaughter not one if someone kills a pregnet woman. Two, the fetus is alive, after all it is/was in a woman to begin with right. You telling me that you had a dead thing growing inside of you until your child was born. Scientificlly dead things don't grow but waste away, at least to my knowledge. I do agree though a woman has the right to choose to have an abortion to save her own life but it is her choice. If she so chooses she can have the baby.

First of all, to each his/her own with abortion, if you can live with it, that's on you. Taking birth control pills in NOT a medical procedure, and its not STOPPING pregnancy, it PREVENTING a pregnancy from occurring there is a difference. I imagine that your have no kids to even state that a FETUS, is not a BABY until is born, you need to go back to high school biology and do some studying. A baby breaths in the womb!!! As far as leaving a child motherless, there are women that put their lives on the line for their jobs (you know women in the military or policewomen) so that you can be safe and have freedom. What about mothers that have some kind of accidents were they are killed, its not their intention to leave their child motherless, but it happens. You don't have to support or care for these children, so why do you care.

You are so ill informed a baby is alive at conception it has a soul. Birth control stops ovulation so you don't get pregnant . Sorry news flash an abortion is murder. I feel sorry for you that you don't see it the right way. Those of us that say we would not choose an abortion to save our own lives is because we have something called faith and we leave it in God's hands. It's up to him to decide whether we will live or die we don't have that Divine Wisdom. However we make our choices to honor and obey Him.
God gives us free will to choose what we want but it still doesn't make abortion right.

EDIT***** You just answered your own question with your additional details. If a fetus survives off it's mother and a woman decides to terminate the pregnancy then it's murder. THANK YOU
We decide not to terminate because it is MURDER

To each his own is my philosophy. However, me being prochoice, I have to say that your statement that the fetus is not a baby until it is alive and breathing is ludicrious. It's a baby. It breathes in amniotic fluid in your womb...it has a HEARTBEAT. All that happens BEFORE it is born.

ETA: Although I say to each his own it is not a choice I would personally make. It's not for me to judge those who make that decision. But, I am very opinionated and DISGUSTED with those who use it as birthcontrol. I read an abortion clinic journal and there were women there 6+ times. That right there is effed up.

An interesting tid bit on birth control . . . . most pills work to stop ovulation AND implantation. This means that it makes your body NOT drop an egg in the first place. If, by chance, you DO ovulate on the pill then the pill also thickens the mucas lining the uterus preventing implantation. An IUD has the same reaction with the lining in the uterus prevent implantation. It is also thought that the IUD irritates the uterus just enough to make the egg not implant as well. BTW, an IUD is *very* effective and is the #1 form of birth control outside the US. In the US, it is the pill (think $$$$ for drug and insurance companies). So the people who think abortion is murder - do they think using an IUD is as it allows an egg to be fertilized, but not to implant?

I agree on the part about having a child and then leaving it motherless unless that is what my husband would want also. I don't agree on using abortion as birth control. Anyways, it's much cheaper to buy a pill than have an abortion. I don't care if that's what other people would do but i wouldn't.

Oh come on people. How many women do you actually think use abortion as a form of birth control?
Unless a woman has a) a lot of money or b) an extreeeemely easy going doctor - it just isn't that easy to get abortion after abortion. Considering a woman could fall pregnant countless times a year - is that really feasible?
But people DO have accidents - no form of birth control is 100% effective.
I think some people are far too judgemental on women in a tough situation when they haven't been through it themselves. It's very easy throwing your opinion out if you have never been there yourself.

And people use their religious beliefs as if that is a feasible argument - not everyone believes in the ways you do.

The world is overpopulated and as a planet we can't look after the ones we have - especially in poorer countries so where is the benefit in bringing more unwanted children into the world?

Abortion is not a medical procedure to stop pregnancy it is a medical procedure to terminate pregnancy.
It's not even in the same category as birth control. Although some very uneducated people do treat it that way.

I could not leave my children alone. Even though I know my mother would take good care of them, I would do a better job. I am their mother. It is my responsibility to care for them until they can care for themselves. If it came down to my life or my baby's.... I am sorry, I would have to pick mine. I can't martyr. It is a matter of weighing priorities.

As far as having an abortion is concerned. I would not have an abortion for myself. I am pro-choice, but I still believe it is murder. I am pro-choice because I think it is NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY to tell you what to do with your body.
