I'm sober now, but used to do alot of drugs. Ever hear the saying, "don't judge a man till you've walked a mile in his shoes"? This one is true for you.
I took drugs because reality was too overwhelming. I need pot to relax and escape the reality and meth to give me the energy and motivation to exist. I won't go into detail, but life basically sucks for 50-75% of the people in this world. Approximately 20% of them choose to take drugs to medicate life. Ironically the rich people get to take legal drugs (i.e. Prozak, Zanex, etc)
I'm only sober now because I found all I need in Jesus Christ.
So don't judge people who chose the less of 2 evils, pray for them.

Because a lot of people in this world do not like the situations that life has handed them, so they just turn to drugs. Or they want to fit in with the people that they hang out with, then they get hooked. Either way drugs are not the answer, obviously. But some people think that drugs are the way to live, but mostly the people that do the drugs are sad human beings either to begin with, or after they have been doing the drugs for a long time.

I would be afraid to take hard drugs. I don't like not being in control, of warping my perceptions, of possibly ruining my health or dying.
It's VERY easy to kill yourself with the wrong drug - even one dose can do it.
Having said that, I will have a drink or two, at home (put away the car keys!), to "relax." Super Bowl Sunday I had more than one or two.
So is it all just a matter of degrees? Maybe. With alcohol, you really have to work at it to get so intoxicated that you risk a health problem.
Or maybe I'm just a hypoctrite! If so, I have a lot of company.
PS I also have a cup of coffee every morning, to wake up. Caffeine is addictive - although very mildly so. You will feel a bit differently if you skip it for a day.

obviously you have never had a love one addicted to drugs.yes its true it could be a choice to take your first drug. but if you have an an addictive personality you know longer have a choice. herion as you know is physically addictive. so when you are hooked your body starts to need that drug or you become extremely sick. the other drugs you mention such as exstasy, cocaine are party drugs which are usually done right along with alcohol. oh by the way is the most common used drug in the world plus one of the most deadly. but ironically is legal. i see you didnt bother adding that to your list. mabe its because thats your drug of choice. drugs is not the problem its a symptom of a society who have become hypocrites and judgemental. i dont know if you have children but i am sure you might have a different outlook or not such a closed mind if one of your children were addicted to drugs. right now you are probably saying " no not my child i would teach them to say no." are you in for a rude awakening. addiction has no discrimination against color, money , or even morals. 1 out of 10 people who try alcohol or drugs could become an addict. i hope this answers your question

good luck on banning them...because i do belive... they are. why do people do them?....simple.... to make themselves feel comfortable with who they are or for that matter who they want to be. whether it be to be able to not be afraid to dance or talk to a woman.... people do drugs for all different reasons... mostly selfconfidence issues. in the end... it becomes spun into a dependancy. and unless you have done some of them you just wont understand how it feels to be under the influence... its a strong pull my friend. very strong.... i have done some of the drugs you have listed.... and i have to say.... you wont know... unless you experience it... but i have put that away...mainly because i have seen so many of my friends get taken out by them... its hard to bury your friends and then go do lines at the bar after you finish with the funeral that day

Drugs are legislated against, but you will always find
someone stupid enough to experiment and get hooked......
Drugs are the one thing out there, that cause one of the
biggest crime headaches to all concerned, because of
the amount of illegal users, as well as the crimes they
commit in the distribution chain, there are also the
deaths which occur in addicts themselves.........................
