I think the root of your insomnia is your new laptop. Give it a break - only using it for school purposes. And don't take the laptop to bed with you! Your bed is only for sleep and sex (if possible). Distractions like TV, books, eating in bed is a big no-no, and that laptop is included. I know that quitting cold turkey would be hard for you, so gradually wean yourself from all the surfing. Or as another suggestion give yourself a window of time to surf, like one hour a night or only an hour every other day. GET focused on your courses and get to class on time, you WILL regret it later if you end up flunking out. The Net will be waiting for you after you're all done and graduated. Good luck to you.

Try warm milk, before bed. May be a routine. Reading. Meditation. Lots of books out there on Insomnia relief. Stay away from caffine 4 to 5 hours before bed. Stuff like that.

Good Luck!

Ok, i have to say it
The cure for insomnia is Sleep.
It would kill me if i didn't state the obvious.
Seriously
I have insomnia as well. I was told to make the bedroom the sleeping place. In other words, do not watch tv in bed, play on the computer, or eat in there.
All bad habits I have.
Once we are sleep deprived, our minds just over work and over think.
You need time to sleep and then time to play and time to get back to focusing on class and all your other goals.
Once you get a pattern down for sleeping, setting aside a solid 9 hours for it, the rest of your life should fall into place.
Good luck.

Hi, I've had the similar problem in school. I'm a medical graduate and the net has this addicting appeal but step back even cancel ur net if required there are soo many things i was missing out. For the insomnia go outside lay in the grass stare in to the sky helps with the stress and it will clear ur mind. Keep you priorities straight dont compromise your future.....

I had the same thing when it came to getting my first tv in my own room. I was up all night watching tv and I couldn't get to sleep. (How this is relevant I'm not sure) Anyways, try limiting your time on the web. Do what ever it is you do on the Internet and time yourself. Now when you figured out how much time you spend on it. Cut it back in half. When it comes to not sleeping. Don't sleep during the day this for sure will make it hard for you to sleep at night. Start dealing with the issues in your life as they come for now in till you get over this little obsession. Concentrate on school. If your worrying about your future you need to remember one thing that with out the proper education there will be no future for you. Just keep that in mined.

You need to stop looking at tv's and computer monitors for about 2 hours before bed. Don't drink caffeine either. Tv's and computer cause brain stimulation and it will be very difficult to fall asleep if you use them continually and especially right up until bed time. Turn them off. Enjoy the silence. Enjoy your thoughts. Read a book, that's a good way to fall asleep.

The choice is yours to switch off your computer. You have the choice and power to turn off this "Obsession". As for you pondering about your future and problem, well non of us can predict our future, so why both spend sleepless night ponder about. You can't even do/solve any problem by thinking about it. You cannot never think through your life. You have to LIVE LIFE.
