Is this vaccination a good thing? Does it work? Do you need a booster? Can you have it at any age?

The vaccination is well worth it and does help prevent chickenpox. It takes two shots as I listed below and you can get the vaccination at anytime.
Those who don't get it are subjecting themselves and others to something that is preventable with a couple of shots.
Chickenpox (also called varicella) is a common childhood disease. It is usually mild, but it can be serious, especially in young infants and adults.
• It causes a rash, itching, fever, and tiredness.
• It can lead to severe skin infection, scars, pneumonia, brain damage, or death.
• The chickenpox virus can be spread from person to person through the air, or by contact with fluid
from chickenpox blisters.
• A person who has had chickenpox can get a painful rash called shingles years later.
- Most people who get chickenpox vaccine will not get chickenpox. But if someone who has been vaccinated
does get chickenpox, it is usually very mild. They will have fewer blisters, are less likely to have a fever,
and will recover faster.
Children who have never had chickenpox should get 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine at these ages:
1st Dose: 12-15 months of age
2nd Dose: 4-6 years of age (may be given earlier, if at least 3 months after the 1st dose)
People 13 years of age and older (who have never had chickenpox or received chickenpox vaccine) should
get two doses at least 28 days apart.

yes, having the chicken pox vaccine is very important. the 12 or so dollars that it costs to get the vaccine is a very small price to pay compared to the pain and suffering that chicken pox will cause.
in answer to your other question, yes the vaccine works in almost every person that it is given to. in a very small margin of people, they develop a rare immunity to it, but again, this is a VERY small amount of people.
and yes, you can have chicken pox at any age, but keep in mind most people only get it once, so if you have had chicken pox at an early age, or sometime in the past, you will not need a vaccine. i must say though, if you HAVEN'T had chicken pox and HAVEN'T had the vaccine, i would get the vaccine as soon as possible. chicken pox is certaintly not a illness you would wish to have later in life.

It's very good that you're doing your research before blindly accepting what certain groups may say. I have read some interesting research from Dr. Julian Whitaker (one of the big doctors that promotes natural health options) about vaccinations causing problems like that. The downside is that it was in one of his newsletters (which are by subscription basis), but if you do a search on Yahoo or Google for Dr. Whitaker and Vaccination, you'll probably find some of his research that he's posted on the internet (or that has been posted about it). You should find some great information on it. Good luck!

Chickenpox vaccination does work. It is definatly worth doing.My sister got it when she was little and was around me when i got chicken pox and she didnt get them.Im pretty sure u can have it at any age if you havent had chickenpox before.

Yes I think it is worth getting. Where I live it is a required vaccine to go to school.

chicken pox is a natural defence of the body
the vacine could be good after finding out that children can catch it more than once
i.e if they have it mild first time thay can get it again this is what happend to my children and the second time was worst
so if the vacine helps in some way i'd go for it

for children i think no, its best for them it build up a natural immunity, it strengths their immune system, and well it never hurt me as a child, however, if you have reached adulthood and still not had chickenpox i think it is worth it as it can be very dangerous to catch it as an adult

yes, it works. both my kids were immunized, and even though they both caught the virus, they only got it VERY mildly.
