Immdeiately after delivering your baby you could be around 20 pounds lighter. That was always my experience. You deliver the baby around 7-8 lbs, you lose a lot of blood and if you've been retaining water that goes too. In order to lose weight eat a well balanced diet. After around 6 weeks you can start excercising(get an ok from your doctor). By the way, breastfeeding helps too.

this will depend on how much weight you gained and how much of it was excess fluid as opposed to fat. If you gained alot of weight in fat, expect to have to work it off. Should lose at least 10-13 lbs right after delivery and probably a total of 20 in the first week or so. Although you may have trouble if you were dehydrated and they pump you full of fluids. When I had my son, I got home and got on the scale and only weighed 5 lbs less, now he weighed almost 8 lbs, plus several lbs for placenta and blood and amniotic fluid, so I actually gained weight after delivery (I seriously cried when I got on the scale). But I had lost 20 lbs within the first week, and it took me another six months to totally lose the other 20 lbs.

Everyone is different but when I had my first, I weighed 179. A few weeks later I was 155. It all depends. Probably about 20 pounds.

You never know until it's over. I was down to 5 pounds heavier than my prepregnancy weight within in a week. Breastfeeding helped, I'm sure.
