Every body's looking for a magic potion. It's the reason pharmaceutical companies are among the richest in the world. You can't really blame the 'natural' drug manufacturers for wanting a cut. Their appeal is to the people who think it's unnatural for the human body to take in chemically produced substances, then think it's natural for the body to absorb mega-doses of vitamin C. When in nature does a human consume 1000mg of vitamin C? That's sometimes the dosage of one tablet. 90-75mg is the RDA! High fructose corn syrup is what's used to sweeten soft drinks and soda. Stuff like that's also the reason you see so many questions here from people who work out but don't see themselves losing weight. Of course, that means buy more HFCS, so they can workout harder.

The truth is, there are salesmen who drive around to various gyms. They offer the gym a cut of all sales, if they're willing to place their items on the counter, or let them set up a display. Simple as that. It's a way to make money... which everyone likes. Besides, why shouldn't a gym sell stuff that's bad for you. It makes a lot of people keep coming back, so they'll feel better.

Because most people are susceptible to marketing by the companies that produce these products. That and most people do not understand nutrition.

I think it's funny too. Might as well just have a candy bar and a Coke.

Carbs and high fructose aren't really that bad for you if you work out regularly. Your body needs that kind of stuff.
