I would definitely check and see if your credit card company can do anything about it, seeing as you are physically unable to get there. Most pre-paid hotels require 24 hrs cancellation, can't you at least have one night refunded?

Louise,

I'm across the pond, as you might say. In the States, most hotels give you until a certain time to cancel the room. Also, our credit card companies typically back the consumer in a dispute.

Since I see the hotel is refusing to work with you, you could always try higher management but if that doesn't work call the credit card company you used to reserve the room and ask them if they can help.

Sorry to be kind of a downer, but most hotels have a 24 hour cancellation policy. It's pretty standard these days. If they do not have one, then maybe you would be able to make a case. If they have that policy, or a similiar one, in place, it looks like you'll be losing your money =[

If you booked one of their supersaver deals (which you must have done if you have already paid), then that is part of the conditions you signed. Cheap room - no refund.
Their T&C are very confusing though
