I am a jockey and I just started races. I have been riding for a couple years now and I have gotten too heavy because of my muscle. I had to finally take time off and I am going to see a dietician. While I was riding I was TWO PERCENT BODY FAT! So I am trying to lose muscle without killing myself lol.

Stop lifting and start doing aerobic exercise. One can not turn muscle into fat or vice versa. AT this point running, aerobics..some sort of cardio seems to be your only option if you want to lose weight and not gain muscle. If your body does not have enough calories to stay at status quo and you don't have fat to burn, you will burn muscle. I've done it unintentionally myself...I don't have anywhere near a 2% body fat %... but I have lost a few percentage points of muscle because I was not training and I was only doing cardio.

muscle is muscle and fat is fat. one can't change into the other. they can only be replaced by the other. just don't exercise with weights. don't eat too much protein. the dietician can help there.

Look for exercises that do not build muscles but emphasizes on cardio & weight lost. Eg: running , jogging, cycling instead of weight lifting or dumb bells.
