Are you eating enough, or are you dieting? If it is the latter, it affects evacuation. Assuming that you ear normally, try the following:
1.Eat raw salads made from well-washed cabbage, cucumber, carrot and broccoli. If you cannot eat these raw, you can boil them slightly without adding oil.
2. Several vegetables are rich in fiber, such as green beans, string beans, broccoli, cauli flower, okra ('ladies fingers'), yam, carrot, turnip, radish, green peas, etc. Take at least two servings of these vegetables at each meal. Dont overcook these.
3. Reduce the quantity of red meat that you consume. If possible, avoid red meat till your problem is sorted out.
4. Certain seeds contain fiber and could be taken before going to bed. These help in bulk formation of stools, and are passed out with the stools as they are not digested. These are available in stores selling Oriental foodstuffs.
5. If you have a copper vessel, store your drinking water (at room temperature) overnight in the vessel. After you get up in the morning, drink two glasses of water from this vessel. This helps in constipation. If you are used to boiling water before drinking, ensure that you dont boil the water in this vessel, and that you dont fill the vessel with water that has not reached room temperature.
6. Drink 8 glasses of water daily, spreading the intake throughout the day. Drink one glass of water before going to bed.
9. Avoid drinking coffee, tea or soda, but take fresh fruit juice instead. Avoid alcoholic drinks.
10. Eat at least one medium sized banana after each of your main meals - i.e. two per day. Other fruits such as papaya, mango, apple and water melon are also useful for constipation.
11. Soak a few raisins in a little water overnight and eat them in the morning along with the water.
12. Dry fruits such as dates, almonds, figs, etc. are good for treatment of constipation. Eat a couple of these daily.
13. Have some physical exercise every day, such as aerobics or even plain walking (around one mile per day). Certain yogic postures are also useful for treatment of piles and constipation.
14. The Oriental type of toilet (squat type) is helpful in better stool movement compared to the sitting position toilets. This has been proved by scientific study. Many peope have benefited in their constipation problem by using this type of toilet. I dont know whether you can have access to the squat type of toilets as it is not in common use all over the world.
15. Do not depend on laxatives to cure constipation. After consulting your doctor, you can take some mild laxatives to start with, and then allow your body to cure itself of constipation naturally.
Maybe some of these ideas would help. Good luck.

I'd say you're probably drinking too much water.
Switch to coffee for half of that amount.
Caffeine can have a laxative effect.

Constipation can often be relieved by drinking plenty of water (6 to 8 glasses per day), exercising regularly, and increasing dietary fiber content with grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes. People who do this find they rarely if ever need laxatives. Of course, an unresponsive bowel can have other causes, including certain medications. So if the problem persists, see your doctor.

You need more fiber in your diet. I used to have a similar problem when I was a kid. My mom used to give me apple juice to drink, and it would help. Even now as an adult I have to drink a lot of apple juice or make sure I have a lot of fiber in the days diet or else I will get to that point also. Eat whole grain everything!!! (Bread, cereal, pasta,etc..), and take a mutlivitamin and/or buy something like Fibersure (a tasteless powder that you mix in foods and drinks)....that should help...but if you really have to go take some cod liver oil, or a stool softner (not as harsh as a laxitive). Hope I helped!

Eat prunes, berries and fibre. You can buy supplements from the health store to increase your fibre intake, also look for 100% juices which still contain much of the fruit pulp. This should keep you regular and try to avoid laxatives if possible - not the best long term solution.

Reason for your constipation - most likely what you eat (fats, meat and alcohol)

Increase fiber and water consumption. At 25 grams of fiber and at least 8 glasses of water daily for adults.

Increase consumption of fiber dense grains, fruits, and vegetables for fiber.

Increase a moderate level of exercise regularly to at least 20 minutes 4 times at week.

Inquire with your medical doctor if laxatives and stool softeners are right for you. Usually a change in diet can soften stools.

please listen carefully. To avoid constipation, S* H* I* T* more than 2 times daily. Dont leave gases(don't fart. farting makes your stool tight and more tight. in case of farting go to S.H.I.T). I am very serious. do it surely you will. even If you don't get urgent to go to lavetry, try to do in evening also. at least 2 times a day. and try to drink waters in correct interval ie before 45 minutes of meal and 1 hr after meal. drink more water. I really experienced and used so many tablets and capsules allopathy homeopathy and Ayurveda but in vain. but this is the best treatment even I face for years and now fine.
