He appeared to be a nice young man. And once I conveyed to him that I didn't understand what he was saying he smiled and left. But I have wondered since then exactly what he said. Can you help me?

I've asked my Spanish-speaking friends from Latin-America and Spain and "La Bama" doesn't exist. It's not even a word. I'm sorry but I think you have misunderstood what the person told you. Perhaps next time someone approaches you and speaks to you in Spanish and you don't understand what they are saying, you might try saying something like, " Lo siento, pero no comprendo". (I'm sorry but I don't understand) :-)

" La bama" doesn't mean anything. You misunderstood. And how do you know he was Mexican? Not every spanish speaking person is mexican.
