What would be gods point in doing this?

"Ummm...I'm sorry. But if you read the Bible. The Pharaoh was not on God's side. God was on Moses side. Most of Pharaoh's men where drowned in the Red Sea. If you remember the Story...with Moses parting the Red Sea. Unless your talking about a different person that I'm totally not aware of. "

Umm...God hardened Pharoh's heart in order to be able to show the Hebrews his power - the miracles, the ten plagues - all of that was to show what a powerful and great God he was. In fact it says multiple times that God hardened his heart - even when Pharoh was ready to let them go. What ruler would want such a load of troublesome slaves - causing death, and plagues and famine etc.

I love it how some people, because they don't agree with some of his policies assume that he has no relationship with God. Isn't that what the Pharases did to Jesus ( He heals on the Sabbath, he couldn't possibly be one of us)? You need to be real careful when you are judging the heart of someone else, according to Scripture, you are judging and on dangerous ground. That is the Creator's job..............
