If she's scratching a lot, it might be ear mites. These cause a terrible itch, and if the cat scratches hard enough to break the skin, he can end up with an infection. The vet can give you ear drops to treat ear mites very easily.

This could be caused by a number of things. The most likely is an ear infection caused by build up of wax inside her ear; the ear can look quite clean on the outside but it is easy for wax/debris to build up lower down and cause irritation, ultimately leading to infection.
You can help keep your cats ears clean by using a damp piece of cotton wool and wiping it gently around the upper part of the inside of the ear, however do not dig around deeper in the ear as this can cause more harm than good.
If the ear is smelly or you can see muck building up then this definitely is infection and your cat needs a trip to the vet for an antibiotic ear drop to clear it up.
Other things can cause itchy ears in cats - harvest mites, which are little orange mites that cluster around the ears can cause irritation. A good flea treatment such a Frontline can get rid of these.
White cats can suffer with their ears as they are very sensitive to sunlight and get sunburned very easily. If your cat is white you can apply a little sun cream to the outside of the ears to avoid this (honestly!).
If you are at all worried by your cats scratching take her to the vet to get properly checked out as there can be more sinister things that can cause a reaction like this. It's always better to be safe than sorry! Good luck x

Apparently cats sometimes get some sort of parasite in their ears that causes them to scratch them a lot. you can get drops from a vet. they are tiny mites. if you see a substance that looks like coffee inside the cats ears then it has ear mites. They also need to have their ears cleaned regularly just as we do to avoid build up of wax. a vet will show you the best way to clean them as wax build up can even cause deafness.check out http://www.pawsandclaws.com/cleaning_cats_ears.htm for more info. hope this helps.

Sounds like she has an eye infection. If it doesn't get any better, I would take her to the vet and maybe they can give her some medicine. You don't want her to scratch her eye ball. This could lead to ulcers and possibly even surgery. The eye really isn't something to mess around with. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Also, check her ears and see if you see any discharge. She could actually be scratching her ears because she has earmites or wax build up.

wipes are available or drops from a pet store they won't do the cat any harm but will clean and remove mites if she has any ,also it also could be fleas as well that are around by her ears, although the mites is probably the problem the wipes will clean her ears even if its a wax problem .
fleas can be detected by looking under the belly where its maybe not to thick with hairs or is when stroking you find black bits of grit thats flea dropppings and all you need is flea control for cats.

Could this be ear mites? Use baby oil and Q tips to clean a cats ear..... be careful not to poke around in the cats ear with the Q tip.... the baby oil should stop the mites in their tracks.
Good luck

She may have an ear infection or ear mites. If she has an infection the easiest way to tell is to put your nose into her ear and if there is an unpleasant smell them she will need to go to the vet. Hope this helps. Carol
