Here's an idea. Why don't you get all your guests to pay for parts of the wedding instead of them giving you gifts you really don't need.
It will help your partner to live out her dream wedding and with everyone paying it should fit within your budget.
Otherwise do your best to make itcheap. Rather than pay for everyones meal. Go to a restaurant and let everyone pay for their own meals.
Try to do as much as possible for yourselves. Make your own invitations, flowers, wedding gifts.
You will save so much this way.

She can STILL have a princess wedding at a reasonable price.
here are some tips:
Skip the church. Get married by the JOP on the same place as the reception.
Have an outdoor setting. Get married at a public beach, park, garden. All you need is a permit or a donation.
Have a bbq themed wedding, You can have lots of food catered by your local bbq restaurant or have aunt Betty cook it.
Do the liquour. Have kegs of beers and sparkling wine.
Have fancy plastic silverware and tableware. They have some thatresemble real china.
Have yoru guest take the pics and video.
Skip the limo and borrow someone's car.
Do your own bouquet and boutoniers.
Have a small guest list with the people that you really care about.
Buy your wedding cake at Walmart. They have reasonable prices and they look the part.
If you don;t want a bbq wedding, then do a Mid-morning or mid afternoon wedding where a full meal is not expected. Serve brunch and/or hors d'ouvres instead. Buy veggie, fruit, cold cuts, cheeses, cracker trays in whole sale (such as sam's)
Skip the liquour and save even more. Serve tea and soda for beveragges, and have sprakling wine or cider for the toast only.
Skip the dj. make a CD of fun songs and let it play in the background. Let your wannabe DJ cousin be the DJ.
Rent the Tux , buy her dress on ebay or off the rack.
Print your own invitations on your PC. and do RSVP via phone or email.
Honeymoon in a closeby B7B for the weekend.
If anything fails, just ELOPE. You can have it ALL for under $1000 in Vegas.
Good luck

One way to keep costs down but make a wedding extra romantic is to get your friends and families involved. Asking them to use their skills to make something for the big day is lovely and much cheaper. Getting friends with nice cars to act as chauffeurs for the day. Askig crafty friends to make invites and favours, maybe you even have an aunt who is a talented seamstress who would be delighted to make that wonderful princess dress or maybe even just the bridesmaids dresses.
Alternatively check out small and local suppliers. Don't go to the big name dress shops or car hire places - local suppliers are often cheaper and you get a much more personal service.
And don't forget the advantage of having a wedding on a weekday and not in the summer - many venues will halve their prices for an autumn wednesday as opposed to a summer saturday.
But I always think the best weddings are where the couple's personality shows through. The best weddings I have been too haven't been princess themed - they have been barn dances and raves and small and initmate dinners in cosy pubs. Think about what you guys really want instead of buying into the hollywood dream wedding - remember this day is the first of the rest of your lives together so make it about you and who you are.

OK I wanted a princess wedding too and I did it and we were 1 year out of highschool. First the dress is the whole thing if you have a davids bridal around you go there they have nice dresses for $99. Then fake flowers are cheaper i had daiseys. Make all of it yourself dont hire people to do it for you. Keep looking on the the internet for cheaper things and look for sales and get creative with it. You are going to have to do most of the work but it will be worth it in the long run. good luck and have fun with it.

If you want to organise a fairy-tale wedding, here are some ideas you might find useful .
Location
A cathedral, dancehall, mansion, country club or a castle. If you can`t afford any of these a normal church and a large hall for the reception.
Catering & Reception
If you know of a remote village pub in nice setting, aproach them and see if they will put on a barbeque free of chage in return for bringing lots of paying guests to their otherwise quiet establishment?
Brides dress
A huge ball gown is a must and a tiara. Search the web for companies in the far east who will make designer wedding dress copies from photos at a fraction of the cost even with the postage! Tiaras dont have to be pricey - thee is a budget range at www.best4weddings.co.uk
Decor
Check with your local theater / college drama group for any props that will add to the atmosphere - ask that they provide the props in return for using any images for their portfolio.
Photographer
Again, check with your local college for student photographers looking to extend their portfolio, they will either be free or really cheap!
Invitations
You can send out Fairy-Tale wedding invitations - all you need to make scrolls is paper and a printer, use a calligraphy font for a special touch. Roll up and tie with a red ribbon and send out in gold cardboard postage tubes.
A Unique Way To Include Children
Rather than a line of bridesmaids, you could have your friends' children participate in the ceremony as fairies and ushers. Each fairy can be dressed in her own unique fairy outfit these are very cheap from party shops. Fresh flowers could also be pinned in their hair. The faces of the fairies can be glossed with sparkly dust.

Skip the theme and just start pricing places. Lot of place carry their own theme and it's actually cheaper to just use the place and environment. I thought I wanted a costume party until I found this nice hall where all walls are glass and looks out on a lake so the presents of fall is taking over since the wedding is Nov 3. Less is more and don't worry about a "theme" the theme is wedding :)
It will be a lot easy are you....

You could always have the wedding outside at a flower garden or some very romantic spot outside. That way you could have the wedding and reception in the same place. You may then beable to afford the nice dress, ect. You can also find someone or do your own flowers, invitations, and cake. You will just have to see who you know that can do these things well, and then ask if they will do them for free. You can also do a theme wedding. I know with a country western wedding she could have the princess dress, but the guys could wear black jeans with a tuxedo shirt and vest. This can be a very nice wedding, research them on the net and you will see a lot of beautiful contry western weddings. You could elope. If you could afford a small trip to the ocean. You could get married on the beach, and be right at your honeymoon. This has become popular with famous people lately.m It can also be beautifull, and fairly cheap. A nice outfit approiate for the beach for you both, and someone to marry you. You don't even need shoes. I would do some searches for themed weddings on the net. I am sure you will come up with something. I had a nice outside semi formal country and wester wedding for my first wedding. My second was my husbands first so I asked what he wanted. He said he wanted it outside in the woods, and he wanted to wear his camoflage hunting bibs. I wore a very pretty cream colored quaze full length dress with flowers in my hair, and the girls wore hunter green quaze dresses with flowers in their hair. All the boys wore camoflage bibs and cream t-shirts, except the ring bearer just wore the bibs. It was very cute. We also got married in a huge park shelter with a big fireplace out in the woods. It was a nice wedding, and we didn't even spend a $ 1000.00. You should just do some research, see what appeals to you, and go from their. Do you guys have any hobbies you could draw some inspiration from. Hope this helped good luck.

We decided on a beach wedding - GET MARRIED ABROAD...!
Its so easy, and relatively cheap! We aren't budgeting on much and its coming in at just under £5000 (in Jamaica). You don't have to worry about the honeymoon cost, wedding planner, cake bouquet, licenses, location, weather.... There are alot of hotels which give you a free basic wedding, and you can add the extras you want e.g entertainment (magician, gospel, mento band), photography..
All our family and all close friends are attending. Register with Confetti http://www.confetti.co.uk and have a look at a budget planner, to calculate the cost.

try and reduce the cost of food!there are many things that you could leave out in a wedding and not show poor. For example the invitations would not cost you a fortune if they're printed in a lower quality paper. it needs a lot of research in order to find cheap but elegant things!

So you have a theme and a princess....now get creative.... start with the venue. Where do you want your wedding? There are botanical gardens and parks? outdoor and indoor events? there all lots of civic organizations that rent out their halls cheap to members....find out. I was surprised to learn that in my home town the Moose club rents out the hall for free so long as you use the ladies of the Moose for catering the event...and their food prices were great too. It would have been worth becoming a member or finding a member in the family. Traditional (andcheap) streamers and balloons go a long way....here, walmart will fill balloons for 10 cents each...but you have to pick them up yourself. I would be watching for sales after halloween to pick up some tiaras (make sure everyone under 12 has one to wear) but they also look cute on the cake table and randomly on tables. A red carpet runner is usually available cheap at most party city type stores. White doves out of paper (that you cut yourself or buy in bulk) add a nice touch. My favorite idea is to name the tables after fairytale things like Castle, Moat, Throne Room, etc. rather than using table numbers. Do you have some teenagers in the family? Get them to make you some cardboard towers for the four corners of the dance floor.... Paint them off to look like bricks and windows with a cone roof....make flags (triangles) for the top in the wedding colors.... get your announcements and toasts written out on a scroll, allow the ring bearer to be your trumpeteer (they have wonderful plastic long trumpets that he can even blow before the toasts, etc.). allow yourflower girl/girls to dress in a belle dress or cinderella dress....if it is in the fall I have seen pumpkins and glass slippers (plastic) used as table decorations...just a few here and there. Use the theme music from one of your favorites during the introduction of the wedding party....During the garterceremony do a glass slipper fitting and try it on the other girls from the wedding party...then dance with your bride before hand.... tulle and white christmas lights draped across the ceiling add a nice touch....if you are keeping costs down and want to keep it dramatic....concentrate on decorating the head table with your theme.....then just carry over the colors with simple flowers for the rest of the tables.... that way, if you have a very regal head table, everyone will get the idea and your bride will be pampered and happy..... I'd get a dressing mirror and write whose the fairest of them all? over top. I could go on forever.... the i dea is have some fun with it.... call the bar the moat or the dungeon... rename a couple of drinks... make a program complete with the names of the royal attendants ....use your princess graphics whereever you can.... is there anyone artsy in your family who can make you a back drop? a place where you and guests can pose in front of a castle and blue skies for pics?
