grits are a hot cereal just as oatmeal is a hot cereal and they are very popular in the south.

In the winter, grits or cream of wheat for me. When it's warmer I love granola.

Oats in one of two styles,porridge with hot or cold milk,a savory version of an Indian breakfast dish called 'upuma',usually made with semolina but great made with oats too.
