Steamed..... LARGE pot or roasting pan with a lid. Put an inch or two of water in the bottom I also put a rack of some sort in like a cookie rack to raise the lobster off the bottom a bit. If the lobster have rubber bands on their claws, take them off. Lobster should be VERY active, btw. Keep them very cold until you cook them. Watch the claws!!!! Grab them from the back of the body shell (they can't bite you there - claws can't reach that far back). Bring the water to a brisk boil. Plunk them in the pot and cover.
They will move a bit (in resentment, I suspect!!). Thats OK. Keep them covered and at a good boil for 30 minutes approx if the lobsters are in the 1-1/2 pound range.
Enjoy!

Lobster what? An alive lobster is best cooked by simply dropping it in a pot of boiling water, once the water returns to a boil you let it boil for about 20 minutes. You then remove it and proceed to make whatever dish you had in mind. Simply removing the meat from the shell and dipping in a garlic/melted butter is delicious.

If your squeamish about putting a live lobster in boiling hot water you can fill a large pot with cold water, put the lobsters in and bring the water to a boil. Supposedly the lobster will go unconscious when the water starts to warm and it's not quite so cruel as plunging them in boiling water. I don't know if this is true, but it sounds like a more pleasant way to go, so that's the way I cook them.

You'll know the lobster is done when it turns BRIGHT red.

Besides butter, you could have rice & salad

Boil the water. Put 1 or 2 spoonfuls of salt and 2 spoonfuls of vinegar in it. Then put the lobster in the boiling water. Calculate the time according to the length of the lobster. (the length of the lobster x 45 seconds/60= the time in minutes you need to cook your lobster... For e.g. : your lobster is 30 cm long. 30 x 45 /60 = 22,5 minutes)

Boil the lobster in lots of salted water about 20 minutes.

Braised asparagus and Linguine Parmesan go well with it...and some nice, crusty french bread.

I know this sounds awful, but if you boil the lobster, (my kids love this part) listen to him scream when you lower him into the boiling water. I know he's not really screaming, but my kids think that's the funniest thing.
