Before I answer your question, let me add that those who want to find something in a text will find almost anything and those who don't will become almost blind to its content. And that if you want to believe what other people say then its up to you but its better to do some independent research.
For any ordinary unbiased person there are some things in the Quran which are very surprising. You need to read the book by a french author who did a lot of research on the subject regarding science and the two most read holy books, the author's name is Maurice Buccaile and his book is called "The Bible, the Quran and Science". There are also some statements in the Quran which correspond very closely to accepted scientific facts. One of the most significant verses that I have come across is as follows:
Quran 021.030: Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
The above verse for me is an uncannily close description of the Big Bang theory. Also, on the observation of water being the essence of life (70% of our mass being made up of water):
Quran 024.045 And Allah has created every animal from water: of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills for verily Allah has power over all things.
Also, the Quran contains a very close description of embryology and the stages of the foetus, not possibly known to anyone at the time.
With regards to history, the Quran disputes with some facts as revealed by other books and presents its own version of events. Now you may look at this as just trying to rewrite history with another angle or may be correcting people's wrong beliefs.
Other things unique about the book:
- it remains unchanged from the earliest recorded Arabic texts
- it is believed by muslims to be the literal Word of God, there is a significant difference in style between how Mohammed spoke Arabic (recorded in the Hadith) and the Quranic Arabic
- its style of Arabic is unique and eloquent, so much so that people used to cover their ears so that they might not be able to hear it out of fear that they may convert. Some conversions, most notably that of Umar, took place on just listening to the Quran, while he was on his way, with his sword drawn to murder the prophet.
But don't go on the above, make your own judgement, read it yourself and decide. Though no transalation can come close to the beauty of the original Arabic, Abdullah Yusuf Ali's transalation is pretty good.

I am not a Muslim, but it does have some neat similarities which can be easily interpreted to coincide with scientific theories. So do parts of a lot of books though. The Koran has remained unchanged since it was written. Muslims even have to learn the language it was written in so they understand their doctrine.

The quran simply makes numerous references to many aspects of life and the universe and often these are vague references open to several interpretations. In these circumstances you are bound to make a number of 'hits' where people could say 'look, the quran said this'.
However I could easily give you an example of the quran being wrong. For example, the quran mentions 'the seven heavens above', now at the time of Mohammed astrologers believed there were 7 planets in the universe and 2 of these were thought to be the moon and the sun. Also in the quran there is mention of the sun as 'having a lamp therein' it also refers in another part to one of the 'heavens as a lamp'. Therefore you could clearly say the quran believes the seven heavens refers to the planets, but we now know the sun and moon are not planets and there are more than seven planets in the universe.
If today there was only 7 known planets they would point to this and say 'look the quran is right'.
So that's one scientific miracle they won't brag about because its obviously false and destroys their holy book.

Well, even some of the more fantastic predictions from Star Trek look like being possible (if impractial) now. so, obviously some of the predictions from the bible (Torah) and its later corruptions (koran, book of moron, jehova witness bible etc.) will have some chance of coming true over a 2000 year period. That doesn't make them scientific texts, merely lucky guesses.

While it is stated in the Qur'an that it is easy for Allah to bring man back to life after death, peoples' fingerprints are particularly emphasized:
Yes, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. (Qur'an, 75:4)
The emphasis on fingerprints has a very special meaning. This is because shapes and details on everyone's fingerprint are unique to each individual. Every person who is alive or who has ever lived in this world has a set of unique fingerprints. Furthermore, even identical twins having the very same DNA sequence have their own set of fingerprints.105
Fingerprints attain their final shape before birth and remain the same for a lifetime unless a permanent scar appears. That is why fingerprints are accepted as a very important proof of identity, exclusive to their owner. The science of fingerprints has been used as a non-erring identity determination method.
However, what is important is that this feature of fingerprints was only discovered in the late 19th century. Before then, people regarded fingerprints as ordinary curves without any specific importance or meaning. However in the Qur'an, Allah points to the fingertips, which did not attract anyone's attention at that time, and calls our attention to their importance. This importance has only been fully understood in our day.
