I was just wondering. Does the First Sgt get any credit for his soldiers reenlisting in his company? Our 1sg seem to really care about his soldiers reenlisting. He will go as far as talking to everyone 1 on 1 and then keep bugging each one of us every 2 weeks. Whats going on here?

Army 1SGs get a pat on the back and talking rights over other 1SGs in their unit if their company has a high reenlistment rate since the CSMs push for it.

No he doesn't get anything for getting his personnel to re-enlist. Oh he might get a few good comments by the Commanding Officer of his unit for retaining soldiers.

I retired as an E-9 Master Chief from the Navy and i never received anything but written positive comments for getting personnel to re-enlist. I served 34 years in the military starting at E-1. If i hadn't contracted Diabetes i'd still be in the service.

They are having a hard time recruiting. Nobody in their right mind wants to sign their own death warrant by enlisting..... So, they are promising almost anything to keep what they have.

It is unfortunate. Serving in the military is an honorable thing to do. Members of the Armed Forces deserve our thanks and our support.
