How often can a dog go to the beach before the salt effects the skin (causing rashes etc)
Is it ok to take the dog daily, twice a week etc and bath it straight after)??

For any of you that remember my pup had cancer, well the geautiful Leah passed away on Monday 5 Feb. The whole family was with her and comforted her on her path to Rainbow Bridge.... I so miss her.

We have already got another pound dog, her name is Storm and she is a 7 month old Staffie x Labradore... she is delightful

It really depends on your dogs skin type. Some dogs are more sensitive than others. If she is really sensitive I would consider just giving her a warm bath without soap and making sure you brush though the coat to rinse all the salt water off of her. Use a moisturizing shampoo once a week so that any residue of the salt gets off at least that often. If your dog has a nice hearty skin type that is resistant to just about everything then I would say that it is okay to bathe her more often. Just wash her and keep an eye on her skin after a day or two to see if there is alot of dander or if it appears too shiny like oily. But if you rinse her after you get back home you should be able to take her to the beach every single day if you like.
Sorry to hear about the passing of your pup. It is so hard to lose a pet.

What you should be doing is just rinsing your dog with tepid to warm water after each visit to the beach and bath only once aweek, as bathing to often takes out all the natural oils in their skin.

I live in Florida & we take our dogs to the beach frequently. We always rinse them off immediately afterward cuz the salt will bother their skin just like it does ours.
We bathe all of our dogs weekly & it doesn't dry out their skin at all. If they have healthy skin to begin with, this should be just fine.
Best wishes!

There is moisture shampoo for dogs, your dog will need moisturizer or the skin will dry out. I used to take my dogs swimming with me all of the time. Just make sure you bathe her and get the salt off. If she has long or thick hair, mix some lotion or conditioner in water for her final rinse. I used to love taking my dogs with me!
