no, this is 2007, color is actually in when it comes to wedding dresses, I see lots of white wedding dresses with accented color. It's your special day, and if you want to wear purple dont let no one tell you otherwise, your the one who's been dreaming of this day.

No it definately isn't.
Tradition states that Purple means Everlasting Love.
Most people in the old times wore purple. or Blue.
White was invented by Queen Victoria it symbolised a pure white virgin. It was only a recent idea to marry this way.
Yellow is supposed to be unlucky.

I've never heard that. Although it might be strange to see a bride in purple, and thats just because we are used to seeing brides in white, I dont see anything wrong with it. It would be unique and people would probably never forget it. On an episode of "Whose wedding is it anyway" a bride wore a blood red dress and although it was very unusual she looked awesome and the dress could not have been more perfect for her wedding theme and locale (Fire and Ice at a winery in Napa Valley). Go for it!
