Depends on whether or not you live under their roof. So long as they are still supporting you, there should be a significant "gap". I agree that they are here to guide, protect and teach us not to be our friends. When you support yourself, the relationship changes. Our parents may always say things that make us feel odd.....keep in mind they had the responsibility for our wellbeing for a rather long time and usually they mean well....most of the things they say that are intrusive are because they are trying to help us avoid some pitfall they have already experienced...at the end of the day, its your life. For me, it took a while to get the maturity to stop taking it all so personal and start seeing the genuine heart and the genuine gift of having parents who ask too many questions and still wonder whether or not I wear a coat in the cold....now when my dad calls to update me on the weather and traffic...I thank him.

You can fill the gap by understanding and accepting the truth - and the truth is that there will always be this generation gap. You must understand the differences and accept them. The values are so different. Hence this gap.
Best wishes,

generation gap is natural as now everthing is movig so fast and lot of things r changing but to resolve this problem is difficult but not impossible 1st thing always remember u cant change thinking of ur parents so change ur self and if u want to explain them or u want to do some thing which they dont agree then just make them understand politely and try and change urself and little little they will chnge themselves.so this problem will somewhat be solved.

ask them questions about their past like clothing and hair styles and dances and compare notes with the way your generation do things. If you are old enough move out and call them everyother weekend.
