your partner does not know you learned they feared never finding true love.as your love for them has been true all along.how does this make you feel,and what does this make you think about how they feel about you.

well, he says it all, he doesn't feel that you are his true love........sorry hon, he thinks of you as a friend....time for you to move on and who knows, maybe he'll realize how much you mean to him over time......

Romantic love is merely fondness compounded by time + romantic attraction. Fondness + romantic attraction = infatuation. Fondness compounded by time - romantic attraction = platonic love or simply long term friends.
You feel romantically in love with him, he feels platonically in love with you. He will never feel the way about you as you do about him unless you can make him romantically attracted to you. If you think that's a possibility, then you have to at least try. If he hasn't figured out that you like him after 8 years, don't expect him to figure it out by himself now.
If you don't think he could become romantically attracted to you (e.i. sexually attracted to you) then just remember that love is merely a word we assign to the state of feeling extremely comfortable around a specific person for whom you have mild or extreme carnal desire for and that you have known for a good period of time. He's not the only one who could fit that discription. He's just the only one you think you've met. You never know, maybe there's someone who feels the same way about you, but you've been too busy looking at this guy

It tells me that you are not his true love and i would be very upset because you have wasted 8 years on this person and now this person tells you they are not in love with you.
