Its legal to put tattoo on hands, but some artists do not tattoo hands for the reason that it can effect some people in very negative ways. I know some of the artists I talk to try to avoid inking anyone on the hands and face for the purpose that some people don't know what they are really getting into.

If one place says no, go elsewhere. I'm sure you'll find someone who will do it for you.

Hey Jumpy......You can get a tattoo anywhere on your body. It's not illegal. You can also have anything you want tattooed on your body.....That being said....getting tattoos in certain places is going to close LOTS of doors to you and hands are one of the places (faces are another).....Getting your hands tattooed is pretty much going to make getting a GOOD job much harder. You should also wait until you turn 18

I have never heard of that, where my husband and I get our tattooes the artist has his hands tattooed and he tattooes hands, its not illegal, but it is true that some places wont give you a job if you have visible tattoes or piercings.

Just a tidbit of extra info on this subject..
Many religions, like Judaism, do not allow a person to desecrate their bodies, because the body is a temple of Gd... So perhaps your religious grandma told you it was illegal because of that.
Or she might just know that getting your hands tattood is something you will regret with age. Plus I hear it hurts really bad due to all the nerve endings.. But good luck

Though its not illegal, it is hard to find an artist do the tattoo on your hands because it will fade a lot faster than other tattoos.

Not that I know of, however a lot of artists won't do hands unless you have other tats as you will face discrimnation in society at this point and while you can wear long sleeves you can't walk around in gloves.

That is the most ludacris thing I have ever heard. I guarantee you the artist themselves that will be tattooing you has two hands full of tattoos. If you can get a prince albert, believe you me, your hands can be tattooed! But think about your future with it. I have one on my inner forearm and it gets noticed at the hospital I work at A LOT. It makes me look less mature than I really am.

It's legal.. I have a tattoo on my toe.. tattoo artist generally dont like to give tattoos on hands and feet.. mainly because they fade away, with usage of hands & feet. The one on my toe i've had 2 years its a flower and i've had to have it redone 3 times because of the fading.... hope that helps! ;)

Who ever told you that was a complete idiot. I have a lizard on my right hand, and a smiley on my right ring finger. What country do you live in that you have never seen anyone with a tattoo on their hand?
