you can update your direct x through the microsoft website...
if you're on a hacked version of windows then either grab the udates off autopatcher or for just direct x you can pull that off of any newer game disc

Direct x is like a multimedia controller. it will not slow down ur computer if ur computer has the minimum requirement. if u want to download it u can go to www.download.com or www.microsoft.com/directx(require validation).the latest one is direct x 9.0c.

Try either www.microsoft.com or www.windowsupdate.com.the update site will scan your computer and give you a list of what needs to be updated or added, and you can search on that site for DirectX download, this should help

what version of windows are you using? Windows XP comes with 9.0 already... but you can get some of the incremental updates from microsoft (link below) search for DirectX update

When downloading it should prompt you to install direct x,make sure your pop up blocker is not preventing you from doing this.
