How old is your son?? weimaraners are very intelligent and beautiful dogs HOWEVER if your son is young..you may end up being the one to take care of it. those dogs are VERY HYPER and need ALOT of exercise they are not ones to sit in a house all day and wait for you to get home from work. they get bored easily and need constant attention....so make sure you read up on the breed and the amount of care they will need before you buy your son a dog that will end up being your dog in the long run when they get bored with it and dont want the resonsibility anymore. HOWEVER if your son is older and maybe lives on his own and is able to take care of the dog, then I would look into a rescue organization. I dont like breeders, there are too many dogs in shelters being slaughtered EVERY SINGLE DAY because of people that only want a pure breed. HOWEVER most dogs in recues are from puppy mills and need a good home just as much as the shelter dogs do.

go to a breeder and check with the breeders vet before you buy. If they breed the dog every heat go elsewhere. Make sure you can inspect the mother and father of the pup. Also read up on their health problems and dispositon. Do not buy from a back yard breeder, the vet can tell you if they are professionals and been in the business for years. Once you get the pup take to your vet right away for a complete check up. Some large dogs come with hip problems and must be certified, check into it. good luck

Mexico sells them cheap that's where i got mine. But I had to give him away cause i moved to a place with a smaller yard and i didn't want him to be in a little yard with no room to do anything.
