I have 3 weeks old kittens. Their mom has gone so I start bottle feeding them today. Yet, they are going to be 4 weeks old this Saturday. Should I start wean them? So far I have got a mixed response on this. some says it is ok, some says I should wait until they are 5-6 weeks old.

Start now offering them small amounts of moist kitten food, keep on giving them formula slowly increase the amount of food and cut back on the amount of formula. They should be fully weaned at about 6 to 7 weeks. This is how their mother would have done it. Not all at once but slowly over a couple of weeks. At about 6 weeks you can start to introduce dry kitten food. Cats are nibblers so only put out enough moist food for them to eat all at once and supplement throughout the day with dry.

janice h gave you some good advice. I bottle-fed my 10yr old DLH from the time he was born. Started offering moistened kitten chow round 4 wks of age but still gave him the bottle till he was really chowing down on the kitten food. That's when I finally took the bottle away. I moistened the kitten chow with the formula. That way they will more readily take the food. About 6-7 wks. he was fully weaned. Spoiled rotten as well. lol He turned out to be momma's lil man. Tolerates other ppl but wants his loving from mommy.

Its best to wean them when they are 6 weeks old, I would keep bottle feeding until they are 6 weeks, they are not strong enough yet, if you wean them too early they may die.

five weeks is the earliest that i would recommend. wean them to baby cereal and softened kitten food and then gradually to just the kitten food. i've had to do this with a litter of kittens.

it rather is often 6 weeks. the mummy will certainly start up this on her own. do no longer stress IT. I worked for a vet for years, and that i'm right here to tell you, in case you stress it, you are able to surely reason the kittens to grow to be ill, and insecure.

I would give it another week at least and make sure they are eating kitten food on their own.
