The simple reason is that alcohol is actually a stimulant for hunger, and the more alcohol you drink the more you feel the need to eat.

Alcohol is an extremely high calorie drink, but only contains empty calories. This causes the body feel hunger pains and requires food. This will of course, all depend on how much alcohol the body has consumed.

All that beer stretches the stomach, and it takes a while to recover. So the morning after, your stomach is large, but empty because it's processed all of the liquid quite quickly. Hence the super-hungry fry up moment in the morning....

You could also be confusing your "hunger" for thirst. Dehydration is one of the major causes of feeling like crap, or having hangovers the next day.
