God creates pains and sufferings to train His loved ones. They don't create faith, but they strengthen faith. People of no faith usually collapse even before facing the training.
People of faith, when they feel pain on the skin, they seek for the reason and try to remove it. This increases their knowledge. They realize that pain is hurtful, especially with people who have no faith, so they come to help the patients, and their love increases.
And they never think of causing pain to other people, so they progress in the training of God.
While people of no faith think and act in different ways, sometimes good, sometimes bad. They don't see the training.

All believers face trials when they let their light shine into the darkness. We must accept trials as part of the refining process that burns away impurities and prepares us to meet Christ. Trials teach us patience (Romans 5:3, 4; James 1:2, 3) and help us grow to be the kind of people God wants.
Everyone goes through something in life. The difference is that Christians can rely on God to be with them and lead them through.

Yes, pain & suffering creates faith. Without pain & suffering why the world will believe in God ? Without this pain & suffering, for what they will be needing god ? Just imagine this world with no pain & suffering - everybody happy, healthy, wealthy. Who will be remembered by whom and for what ? why ? when ? how ? where ?

Our faith can grow in our pain and suffering- Faith begins with putting your trust in Christ. If everything went "well" in our lives we may choose to live for ourselves and not "need" God.

Pain and suffering often come hand in hand with poverty and poor education, so yes.
Any poor country will have a much larger religious population than a rich country.
Ignorance breeds faith.

I agree but be careful not to pray for pain and suffering. Deal with what ever comes your way in Godly Reverence and you will never know pain and suffering because it is all a state of mind.

I think that it might go both ways. It might reinforce faith it, or it might make one question it.
Think of the people who have been through the pain of losing a loved one and then losing their faith.

Yes, I think they do because, in order to create faith, you need to experience feelings with strong impact, such as the ones you mentioned.

If a person is pious only then does pain and suffering creates faith.
If a person is impious then, it does not create faith in him, unless of course there is the merciful intervention of the devotees of Lord.
The four kinds of pious people who turn toward God are:-
1.the distressed,
2.the desirer of wealth,
3.the inquisitive, and
4. he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute.
Bhagavad-gita, (7.16)
O son of Bharata, according to one's existence under the various modes of nature, one evolves a particular kind of faith. The living being is said to be of a particular faith according to the modes he has acquired. Bhagavad-gita, (17.3)
Purport by Srila Prabhupada.
Everyone has a particular type of faith, regardless of what he is. But his faith is considered good, passionate or ignorant according to the nature he has acquired. Thus, according to his particular type of faith, one associates with certain persons...
It should be understood that if one's heart is in the mode of goodness his faith is also in the mode of goodness. If his heart is in the mode of passion, his faith is also in the mode of passion. And if his heart is in the mode of darkness, illusion, his faith is also thus contaminated. Thus we find different types of faith in this world, and there are different types of religions due to different types of faith. The real principle of religious faith is situated in the mode of pure goodness, but because the heart is tainted we find different types of religious principles. Thus according to different types of faith, there are different kinds of worship...
Men in the mode of goodness worship the demigods; those in the mode of passion worship the demons; and those in the mode of ignorance worship ghosts and spirits. Bhagavad-gita, (17.4)
