There are two option. First, you can use Linux that run on CD so it will not effect your Windows computer. Second, you create partition with ext2 type, and install your linux on that partition, so each time you restart your computer, you have to choose, which operating system would you like to use.

Try a LIVE CD like DSL Linux, or Puppy Linux.
It boots your computer with out touching the hard drive.

first install win and then in any one of the drive install linux..
that's it
