I've seen some of the world's best martial artists they still show-off, plus no power behind any of their punches.

I have met TRUE Masters and one Grandmaster of the martial arts.

True Masters are not showoffs and, when they move, there IS power behind these moves. Sometimes the technique does not look like it has power but, trust me, it does.

You have not met any true Masters, I assume.

While there are many show offs as you say, there are still many true Martial Arts masters. I'm fortunate to have such a master as my instructor. The problem is that it's the show offs who get all the attention. True masters generally live & teach in obscurity.

I've probably seen some of the world's best martial artists myself; not performing or practicing, but just walking down the street!

What you qualify as a true master may differ from my definition, but a true master wouldn't let on that he/she knows anything.

The world's best martial artists aren't famous...

Last that I heard, Frank Woolsey was still alive, Bill Hulsey, Bill Lassiter, Ron Bradburn, and a multitude of of Jimmy Woo's first generation masters (not to be confused with the later generations who were not taught the original Ah Soo fighting system, or the first forms).

So, my first inclination is that the true masters aren't done quite yet.

You would never know If you ever saw a "martial arts master" because he wouldn't be showing off in some sparring match or movie. Like my dad always used to say you never know what people have or can do.

more of a comment to their guardian angel than an answer. ya first line is a bunch of crap. TRUE martial artists try to avoid fighting not live to fight. masters are still around but they do not seek publicity for true enlightenment comes from humbleness

True martial artist fight for a living. A lot of them are unknown to the public because they don't do movies or things like that. True martial artist that are famous are (for example) Bill Wallace, Billy Blanks, Don Wilson, Chuck Norris, Jet Li, Jim Kelly, and Chuck Zito because they fought for a living and trained others to become world champions. Especially Bill Wallace.

It's sad but I think your right. A true master will pass everything down to 1 or 2 students. That's not the case today Perhaps its the students fault. It seems to me that each generation knows less then the previous one. What do you think?

Masters do not perform their art like a trained seal.

Ummm... Strange question.

a 'Master' wouldnt be seen on film.

Exception Brue Lee, who wanted to show the west the beauty
of eastern arts. Wouldnt call him a MASTER though,
well, except Jeet Kun Do
