When we go for a walk in the lanes she is so interested in finding Cats or ? that she will not come back to the Car when called. I have tried all sorts of ploys without success. She is a very intelligent 15mth old Thai Ridgeback. She knows she is in the wrong because she tries to say 'sorry' when eventually she obeys me. I am at the end of my tether......Love her to bits.

I thought you would see that I need your suggestions, and most of you have thanks....

just before you leave the house with your dog rattle a chain or something (i use a check chain) and she will associate that noise with you taking her for a walk use the chain when you do walk the dog and when you let her off and she goes too far rattle the chain and the dog will learn to come back

if she is good reward her

it will take a little time but be persistent and consistent

hope this helps dude

She has never been trained propperly. I am not saying you do a bad job, but that Thai Ridgebacks are difficult dogs and do what ever they feel is right f they feel they are in charge. Your dig needs to learn that you are in charge. So contact your local dog training school and make an appointment.

Good luck!

i would recommend putting her on a 30ft lead and telling her come while pulling her toward you.if this does not work try a shock collar from bassproshops.com or cabelas.comit has different shock setting on it and yes i have tried it in myself and it doesn't hurt that much.once the dog gets trained to the shock collar you should only need to shock the dog about once a week.the good shock collars will have a beeper on them to warn the dog if they don't mind you they are going to get shocked and that will greatly cut down the amount of times you shock them.i would reccommend the cabelas gun dog series from cabelas.com it is waterproof and works 1000yards away.

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes. Boomerang is an intelligent name but I don't think your dog can understand the meaning.

remember pavlov? no not the guy who flew the enterprise, that was checkov..

buy some cheap dog treats, buy a cheap kids whistle. blow one, give the dog the other... yes it is that simple. my wife controls 4 wolfhound lurchers this way.

yes, it takes a week or two of training... but blowing a whistle is easier than screaming.... (and its more dignified)
