You can tell, and, you can be sure, but it takes research and if you don't research, then ,yes you cannot know, but I personally have done a lot of research and I have learned a lot from the research that I have done, but now although the research has not taught me everything there is to know I do know a lot of the things that are important to know, it is because of digging deep into God's word that a person can find out truth, and be sure that what they believe is the real truth knowing the deep things of God comes from striving to grab the depth the length and the width of the knowledge of God.You can also know who really has and follows the true spirit of God, by the way they live their life and compare to the listed things below , is what will determine quickly how they stand up to what they are claiming At (Galatians 5:22,23)the fruitages of the spirit of those who have the true spirit will be evident in their life, they will display Love, peace,joy, long-suffering, kindness,mildness, and self-control, if these fruits are not evident in their life, then, they do not have, the true spirit, This is how you can be sure totally sure of the true spirit by these signs that the true spirit is operating within you or someone else, the other scripture you mention to look at in (Revelation17:16)This is talking about Babylon the Great which is the world empire of False religion, soon to be destroyed, by the political forces that upheld her for so long, they will soon, turn on her and destroy, her completely.

I looked at those verses and I don't get your point. But I recommend Galatians 5: 16-26 for a lesson on living by the Spirit. Verse 22 in particular. Ask God to fill you with His one true Spirit. He will do that.
