I did my taxes on one of those free sites and just copied over the info from last year I was so excited to get it done early that I did not pay attention as I should have I finished and sent it through I have already received my money. I was looking over the refund and noticed I did not enter in my other daughter ( I know Stupid, I've been stressed) anyway when I went back on the site it's like a 2 thousand dollar difference for federal and a 100 dollar difference for state in my favor. Can you use a 1040x to resend the taxes through so that I can receive this money? I'm so upset please help!

Yes - you can use the 1040X to send an amendment. It is however, very complicated. You must enter all the numbers you submitted last time, then list the changes, and explain each change. You will have to mail in the amendment with a copy of the original 1040. Illinois requires an entire new tax submission.

Also, you probably did not enter the Telecommunications Credit, Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit which have the potential to get you several thousand dollars extra.

I suggest you print a copy of the submission so far and see a Tax Pro to get this straightened out. The cost is typically less than 10% of the additional refund you will get.

You can ammend the return. Call IRS and ask what form to use, this way, you will know exactly what to do.
