Someone replied saying that Islam is more scientific ........ does that mean Islam supports evolution vs. creation ? or talks about dinosaurs ? or had any idea on the milky way galaxy or the big bang ? also as prophet Md. borrowed ideas from the Bible, I think 6 Aayams (or whatever) must mean 6 days ........ unless clearly specified otherwise ..... Im not trying to anti-anything , just trying to be objective

All the atheists here are battlings the christians, because , there are a large number of christians on yahoo & a lot of them talking stuff like "Let jesus guide you to heaven & accept him & be saved blah blah" ........ you know the usual crap.

Now if there were more muslims on yahoo , then I assure you that the atheists would have been battling the muslims.

Atheists will basically combat any right-wing self-righteous hard-line obsessed religion ....... whether it be islam or hinduism or jewish or christians.

Islam is supported by Science and History. Christianity on the other hand is full of contradictions. Seriously. For example Christianity tells us the world was created in 6 days, 6 D A Y S. While in the Qu'ran it tells us the world was created in 6 "Aryaams", it can mean one 24-hour day, or period. 6 periods, not specific amount of time. Second example, the Noah Flood. While in the Bible it says the flood was global, in the Qu'ran it was merely regional. Finally in the Bible it says that Sun is the greater light while moon was the lesser light, while in Qu'ran it has been said that Moon was merely reflected light. I'm not being biased here, merely stating facts.

Any questions?

Peace out.

Replying to your extra detail:

Muhammad didn't copied the Bible, the main reason was he's illiterate, he can't read. He only memorized the revelations given and spread it to his friends. He was under heavy observation from enemies and friends alike, and none supported any reason to show that he copied the bible.

About the similiarities, let me give you one example. Let say you and I are taking a test, we both studied and gave the same if not similiar answer, did you think I cheated by copying you? No, it's just that our source was the same. We are after all the people of the Book. Dinosaurs are irrelavant because it is stated that the Earth was created first before Adam and Eve was cast down there, and it was for a while the Earth was there before that happened. Regarding evolution, we have nothing againts it. Perhaps Adam and Eve was the first conscience Homo Sapien to appear in this world and in the end populate it. Because there's nothing impossible for God, he may had made humans from monkeys. Islam promotes rational impretations of the Qu'ran, based on knowledge and facts.

I agree with the first reply...no religion or even Christian faith is against science...that is too much of a general statement to make as it implies that religion or Christianity(I've never even heard that before anyway) generally disagrees with most scientific theories and findings

I would rather rephrase that to creation v evolution to be more specific

I'll give you an example of what I mean; nobody really quesrions the theory of gravity, nobody really questions the atomic theory...too many scientists past and present have shaped our understanding of the natural world and we rely heavily on those findings for cures for diseases etc..

so again, I don't think it's a matter of being against science in general, just specifically against theories that contradict what the bible states...such as a global flood, evolution etc..

Bismillah Hirrehmaaan Nirraheem With the name of ALLAH (swt) -The Bestower Of Unlimited Mercy, The Continously Merciful.

any book to claim that it is a Revelation from Almighty God, it should stand the test of time.

Previously in the olden days, it was the age of miracles - Alhamdulillah, the Qur’an is the miracle of miracles.

Later on came the age of literature and poetry, and Muslims and Non Muslims alike, they claim the Glorious Qur’an to be the best Arabic literature available on the face of the Earth.

But today is the age of science and technology. Read Holy Qur’an and let analyze by your ownselves whether the Qur’an is compatible or incompatible with modern science.

Albert Einstein said… ‘Science without Religion is lame, and Religion without Science is blind’. Let me remind you that although the Glorious Qur’an is not a book of Science…S-C-I-E-N-C-E, It is a book of signs S-I-G-N-S…

There are 6666 Ayats (Arabic word) which means signs … Ayats in the Glorious Qur’an out of which more than a thousand speak about science.

I am not speaking about scientific hypothesis and theories, which are based on assumption without any proof, because we all know many times science takes U-turns.

there are two types of approaches, one is a concordance approach - which means a person tries to bring compatibility between the Scripture and science

and the other is the conflict approach, in which a person tries to bring a conflict between Scripture and science, like how Dr. William Campbell has done very well in his book and many other fanatic Christian, jews, hindus professors/orientlist did as well, those critics intentionally twisted the meaning of Qur’an, mischievously do wrong interpretation of Qur’an and spreading misconceptions about Islam among the innocent people.

It is not usual to have a book that comes from someone without training in geography, botany, biology, embryology etc., who discusses these subjects and then advises the reader to ask men of knowledge if he doubts anything.

as far as the Qur’an is concerned, irrespective whether a person uses a conflicting approach, or a concordance approach – As long as you are logical, and after a logical explanation is given, not a single person will be able to prove a single Verse of the Qur’an in conflict with established modern science.

For example the Astronomers, a few decades earlier, they described, how the universe came into existence - They call it the ‘Big Bang’.

And they said… ‘Initially there was one primary nebula, which later on it separated with a Big Bang, which gave rise to Galaxies, Stars, Sun and the Earth, we live in.’

This information is given in a nutshell in the Glorious Qur’an, in Surah Ambiya, Ch. 21, Verse No. 30, which says “Do not the unbelievers see… ‘That the heavens and the earth were joined together, and we clove them asunder.’

Imagine this information which we came to know recently, the Qur’an mentions 14 hundred years ago.

It is very interesting attitude that exists in the Qur'an repeatedly deals with its advice to the reader. The Allah (swt) informs the reader about different facts and then gives the advice: "If you want to know more about this or that, or if you doubt what is said, then you should ask those who have knowledge." This too is a surprising attitude.

The Qur’an mentions the actual shape of the earth in the following verse:
"And we have made the earth egg shaped".
[Al-Qur’an 79:30]

The Arabic word Dahaha means egg shaped. It also means an expanse. Dahaha is derived from Duhiya which specifically refers to the egg of an ostrich which is geospherical in shape, exactly like the shape of the earth.

Thus the Qur’an and modern established science are in perfect harmony.
Do u know what the Bible speaks about shape of the earth?
It is mentioned in the Bible, in the Gospel of Mathew, Chapter No.4, Verse No.8, it says ‘The devil took him… that is Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the earth and its glory. It means earth is flat.
Gospel of Luke Chapter No.4, Verse No.5…‘The devil took him to a high mountain and showed him the glory of all the kingdoms of the world.’
Now, even if you go to the tallest mountain, the highest mountain in the world… that is Mount Everest, and supposingly, you have a very good vision, and can see for thousands of miles together - Yet, you will not be able to see all the kingdoms of the world –
Because today we know, the earth is spherical.
You will not be able to see the kingdom, of the opposite side of the world.
The only way you will be able to see, if the earth was flat. That is the description what the Bible gives…‘The earth is flat.’
Further more, this same description is repeated in the book of Daniel, Chapter No.4, Verse No.10 and 11. It says… ‘In a dream, that the tree grew up into the heaven, and there when the tree grew up into the heaven, it grew up so much, that every one from all the ends of the earth, they could see the tree.
This is only possible, if the shape of the earth was flat. If a tree is very long and the shape of the earth was flat it is possible.
Today it is a universal fact that the world is spherical - You will never be able to see the tree, however much long it is, from the opposite side of the spherical shape of the earth.
Further more if you read, it is mentioned in the 1st Chronicles, Chapter No.16, Verse No.30, that… ‘The earth does not move.’ The same is repeated in the book of Psalms, Chapter No.93, Verse No.1, that… ‘Almighty God has stabilized the earth.’ – That means the earth does not move.
And in the New International Version, it says that… ‘God has established and stopped the movement of the earth as though…’

I hope all is clarifies that Allah (swt) never mentioned in the Glorious Qur’an that earth is flat….but all above verses proved that Earth is geospherical in shape and flat shape…..while according to the Bible its proved that earth is flat.
The Glorious Qur’an says:
"O men! Here is
A parable set forth! Listen to it! Those On whom, besides Allah, You call, cannot create
(Even) a fly, if they all Met together for the purpose! And if the fly should snatch Away anything from them, They would have no power To release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition
And those whom they petition!" [Al-Qur’an 22:73]

Signs of Allah in a fly
The fly flaps it wings approximately 500 times per second while flying. In fact, no man-made machine could operate at such a rate, but would shatter and burn because of friction. However, neither the wings, muscles, nor the joints of the fly are harmed. Taking into account the direction and speed of the wind, it can fly in any direction without being diverted. Even with our current technology, man is very distant from producing a device with these extraordinary features and techniques of flight. Yet such an insignificant living being, which man brushes aside and pays no attention to, achieves something remarkable that man so far has been unable to achieve. Allah has given the fly all its outstanding characteristics and abilities

Let the other religions speak or not speak as they see fit. Christians will be condemned whether they debate the " scientists " or not but at least they have the courage to stand up against the so called educated elite who are leading the masses towards destruction.

I'm guessing because there are more Christians than everyone else. Plus Christians go out of their way to recruit. It's just a theory though. Go Christians!

It's not even Christians vs. Science. It's a few small-minded loudmouthed ignoramuses who claim they are the only true Christians.

Science and all forms of religion are incompatible. It's in the very nature of religion to promote supernatural and unscientific ideas, and of course "faith" requires no evidence.
