I don't have too much time for some of the stranger aspects of Christianity. But as an individualist and an agnostic who has read the bible, I have to say that every word and deed attributed to Jesus Christ himself seems humanistic and progressive. Indeed, I consider him to have been very psychological developed man and a socially responsible human being.
What do you guys think?

Dear, Lover of God.
I know you meant what you said as a criticism, but I take as a compliment.

Dumber....
Funnily enough I thought Revaltions was "just mental", too. It is that kind of stuff that unhinges more credible human aspects of religion. All the symbolic stuff.

I agree with the questionner, JC seems to have been a decent chap. I'm sure a lot of the things that have been attributed to him didn't actually happen - but in general a lot of the new testament (excluding revelations (which is just mental) and Matthew's gospel (which goes back to Old testament hatred)) seems to promote love and harmony and other good things. The Old Testament seems to deal with another god completely - a hateful, spiteful brimstone wielding god.
I'm an atheist, but I'd welcome any decent people from whatever religion.

True, and he was documented in history outside of the bible also, to those who didn't believe he actually existed.
I was an atheist - till the Spirit of this good bloke told me all the things I needed to know - as and when - and then he healed me of a chronic mental illness.
Strange, maybe, but I thank him just as I'd thank anyone else who could do that -
best wishes

I like to think that regardless of your faith or lack of, people can still appreciate that he was a "good bloke" who tried his best to change things for the better.
And It's nice to see that an Agnostic can apreciate that. So many Atheists and Agnostics can't see past their own anger.

I think he was probably a little bit of a trouble maker, who spent most of his time, walking around, saving people, and getting up the noses of those in authority. And yes he most likely was a good bloke.

jesus was as ordinary as you or I. it was only the tenents of the catholic church which made him into something else, well, they had to didnt they.
if jesus were a normal guy, then anyone could be the son of god. and thats no good if you want to build a religion and ideology based on his teachings.
i find it ironic that those who nailed him up now run the most powerful organisation on the planet.

he was no doubt a decent sort, if a tad on the dull and boring side, and against having fun. but i supposed the miracles he performed more than made up for this, with the wow factor.

He was a nice enough bloke, could get a bit rowdy after a drink or two, but then drinks were cheaper back then, so its to be expected really.

i might be depended on what version, what year the book has been printed.
this book keep changing it content over and over again.
if you read the earlier version, you might found that it is not that humanistic and progressive as you read today.

There was no Jesus and so he was not any sort of bloke ..good or bad. Jesus is like the story of Father Christmas....just a fairy tail for the kids.
