Mac computers don't have BIOS. Macs use EFI (extensible firmware interface) achetecture. It is much more advanced than BIOS architecture. Microsoft intended to make Vista for EFI-only computers but the computer makers didn't really get geared up in time so MS backed off. It is a huge setback for Vista which will carry on some very old wacky 16-bit code that is dinosaurish. As Bill Gates himself said, "There are changes across the board, in terms of how hardware and software work together. If we think about boot, we're finally moving away from the old BIOS to this unified extensible firmware interface, and that gives us new flexibility and capability."

The closest you can get on a Mac to "BIOS" would be open firmware. To get there, hold the command key plus the "O" and "F" keys at startup. But you don't need to make any BIOS type adjustments on a Mac anyway. It just works.

You can also get into the base of UNIX by holding command plus "S" at startup but don't expect to know what you can do next unless you are a UNIX geek. There is no list to choose from as you would see in a Windows box setup screen.
