I had my tattoo done about five years ago and its still raised. I dont think the burning and back problems have anything to do with her tattoo. If she had ink poisoning she wouldve got really ill sooner than a year

ok if it itches and burns, it could be the ink they used. if it's just a burning sensation she might have a pinched nerve in her back. Get her to a doctor to see what the problem is! if it's raised a little it might have a slight Keloid reaction to the tattooing! Check with a doctor though!

If the color is raised, it can be from scarring or allergy. She should have it checked.
People don't get allergic to their tattoos right away - this is something that happens with a recoloring sometimes, although rare.
Sometimes just some medication to calm it down will take care of it, othertimes some of the color will need to be release to find relief.
Regarding "a bad back" - I don't completely understand that and if it is muscular, etc., I don't see the relationship.

the largest nerve in the body the sciatic nerve is right under where the tattoo is...im thinking the problem may have started here and nothing to do with the ink...maybe the needle aggrivated the nerve..should get it checked out by a doctor..hope this helps

It's not the tattoo. A "burning" sensation is related to a nerve problem(pinched). Has she injured her back? Do these sensations and pain go down any of her legs? She has a back problem not a tattoo problem.

She could be allergic to the new ink.
She might want to get it checked out.
I also suggest she get tested for communicable deseases and infection in case of improper or tainted ink.
while rare (extremely) it does occasionally happen.

If its been a year since she had it redone and she had no problems the first time, then I highly doubt that it is the tattoo that's causing the problem.
