For the past year, I've felt like there's this huge hole in my life; but I don't know what I need to do to fill this hole.

I have every reason to be happy, I have a nice home, nice car, I have a university degree, a wellpaying job...

I've felt this way for the last year ever since my last relationship ended, but I do't ever think of the girl, so I don't think that's it; I am not totally happy with my job, it's in finance, but I basically help rich ppl get richer..maybe I need a more meaningful job...

I feel like I am in a total rut, not really depressed, or the blues, but not all that great either....

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with me or a solution to fix it? I smoke occasionally and that helps, but it's not a permanent fix.

Thanks

Im sorry you feel that way. If a more meaningful occupation is what you seek, then go for it. I think it would help you feel less like ur hollow if ur doing something meaningful with your life. But sometimes it takes time to get to that point. I have long-term goals that will lead to a meaningful career, but it'll be at least ten years before I get there! (I'm 18 now). In the mean time... maybe you could start a new hobby or something? Or maybe start playing computer games. lol They're not for everyone, but they work for my parents. I think i know what ur feeling. I was feeling pretty dead a while ago... i had nothing to be sad about, and the feeling was different that sad.... i called it "dead." what worked for me was actually a coincidental occurance; a love interest. Not a boyfriend, but somebody... I don't feel dead anymore. Not remotely. He makes me feel more alive than I've ever felt before. He makes me feel amazing.... unfortunately, he also makes me feel horrible sometimes.... not intentionally, its usually my fault infact, but sometimes.... i feel so bad that my stomach churns. But it sure beats feeling dead. So if your feeling kind of empty, or kind of dead, i suggest finding a new hobby or something to preoccupy yourself with while you make your way to a more satisfying occupation. Good luck.

You might be lonely. See if you can fill the hole in your life by inviting someone in to share it.
Or do something that contributes to society - get involved. Plenty of people need volunteers.
Or try changing your job.

Sounds like you need to go soul-searching my friend, or start an underground boxing club with your imaginary friend.

We eat food for our physical health.
We also need "food" for our spiritual health.
Have you taken the "spiritual food"?
