If you agree it was immoral, then apologize to them. Just say you were confused. If they really like you, they'll forgive you.

I would confess (that’s the first step)
Ask for forgiveness and if they don’t accept then try and explain why you did it, and that you didn’t mean to hurt them in anyway but you were just confused.
