I have a two and a half year old girl and was wondering when people generally start their kids in preschool? Is 3 years too early? Or does it depend on the child, whether or not they are ready? I'm a stay at home mom and she has always been at home with me pretty much all day. She never really socializes with kids much other than her younger cousin. I really would like to put her in preschool before she starts Kindergarten so she can be ready for it. Any help on this would be great!

Check with your school district. I don't think 3 is too young. You are right, she does need to learn socialization skills and learn how to "be a student" before she starts kindergarten. My little cousin went to a babysitter up until he started kindergarten and he had a hard time adjusting to the fact that you have to sit down all day, hang your coat here, do what the teacher tells you. Pre-school helps get them ready. good luck!

Most schools recommend age 3 to start preschool. That way they are usually potty trained and are able to learn the basic skills needed for kindergarten. Preschool is a great way to pave the road for kindergarten and it gives the kids something to look forward to.

The pre-school my kids use has two rooms, one is for 2-4 year olds and the other room is for 4 years and over. Check out some of the pre-schools in your area and see what age they will take kids. I think it's great to start thinking about some kind of interaction for your daughter with other kids. Family day care is a good option too.
Good Luck

They don't let them start preschool around my area until they are 3. The daycare I use currently does a preschool program, so when he hits 3, he will be using the preschool program plus daycare.

I think you can send her at the age of 3. I have sent mine son in the same age. It is good to know what is the standard age of children where you want to send your child, 'coz childen of the same ages are really easy to go with each other. So the age of that particular "preschool" does matter.
