The Bible defines death as when the spirit leaves the body. For a Christian his spirit will experience freedom from the lifeless body which will return to dust. His spirit will go to heaven to be with Jesus Christ to await the redemption of the body at the end of this age when his spirit will unite with a body from heaven.

If you ask me, what happens after someone dies is: 1) his beloved ones mourn, 2) he/she is dead so nothing else could possibly happen to him/her after that very point;) When you die, you die, that's it, as easy as that.
