I have a very small red circle on my hip, slightly bigger than an pencil eraser head. It has been there a few days and I didn't really think anything of it until my husband saw it and told me it might be ringworm. It doesn't itch at all, and hasn't seemed to spread or change over the last few days.

I put some Tinactin (sp?) on a band aid and covered it up because it is right on my waist line where my pants will rub on it all day. Can anyone please tell me what else I should do? I didn't even know people got ringworm, I thought only dogs get it! :-/

Just in case keep in mind other things it could be besides ringworm (which you know isn't really a worm at all- it's a fungus). If it doesn't respond to regular medicine cabinet treatments like anti-fungals or if it gets bigger or more bothersome- make a doctors apt. There are plenty of other things it could be such as contact dermatitis, infected hair follicle, or a boil and they all require different treatments. You can try the anti-fungals first but they may take a while to clear it up and if it's something else you'll know soon enough when that doesn't work. Good luck...

first you have to know if it really is a ringworm, ringworm looks like a rash that is scaly, red and itchy. The patch is either ring-shaped or oval on the skin. The rash expands slowly, healing from the centre, resulting in a ring-like appearance. Depending on the severity of the infection, ringworm can be treated by using an antifungal treatment, such as Daktarin Cream (contains Miconazole Nitrate). good luck
