It is a phase of growing--the act by itself is not a sin--when it becomes a fedish it needs control. Done in public is not good--it is a private act--not everybody wants to observe.

In my own ancient and humble opinion some religions consider masturbation a sin because they are still living centuries ago, back in the "dark ages"!. Most enlightened people of all religions consider masturbation completely normal and healthy and in fact practice it. Of course that part is up to the individual. All I can say is when I was an early teen, my best friend tried to get me to join the Catholic Church. When I found out I couldn't play with my weenie any more, I told him "I don't think so dude!" (or something like that!). No regrets...I've been doing it ever since and I'm now 66 and ain't blind or crazy yet! God bless us all, including us masturbators!

The act of masturbation in itself is not a sin. Its the sinful desires/thoughts that are a part of masturbation that are improper for God's people.

"There must not be even a hint of sexual immorality" see Eph. 5
