that Games like Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons etc are completly demonic and are designed to teach Satanism.
you look at the monsters and see a demon and that is all that you see. you do not see the epic struggle against the evil foe, just the fact that there is a big winged guy..
you look at a card and see a zombie, or vampire, and the whole game is evil, but you overlook the fact that there is an entire aspect of the game dedicated to law and order, that uses Angles and "White Knights" to fight against the evil.
if you only look at one aspect of a game is it then fair to look at only one aspect of the Bible? it has just as much light and dark in it as any book or game that i have ever seen, is it right to overlook the good and focus only on the bad?

One aspect of this point of view is that we are unwilling to have the "good" and "evil" in the "epic struggle against the evil foe" to be nominally attributed, the same way we attibute superior virtue and heroism to our favorite ball team.
God alone determines what is good. He has said in his word that magik, witchcraft and sorcery are evil. The practice of magik cannot go along with faith in God because it is about humans summoning worldly powers their own desired outcomes (noble or not).
So for there to be good witches, good spells, and friendly ghosts, that overcome the evil ones is, from this point of view, like having your guy win at Grand Theft Auto.
Look, these games are just that, they're games. It is very unlikely that the role of angels, as you reference is biblically represented. The Bible, however, is the word of God. So, I miss an aspect of a game----my soul will go on! I'd rather hear what God has to say.
If someone decided not to play (or let their kids play) D&D or Magic, they're out a little fun with perhaps some nominal degree of thought provokation regarding good and evil. The Bible offers an endless supply of the latter, and the former can be had without playing the game.
We know not every kid who plays D&D gets crazy ideas and kills his parents. But, we are no supposed to delight in evil, which all forms of magik are. We are instructed to set our hearts on things above. So, we fear God more that we fear our children missing out on Harry Potter.
I'm not saying some of this stuff isnt very well written, arranged and created with a great deal of intelligence and insight. But if I had to make a choice between possibly offending my Lord who gives all wisdom and taking it what a game has to offer, its no contest.

Some Christians take things to the extreme. I am a Christian and I don't think SpongeBob is gay and I can't wait for the last Harry Potter book or the next movie. I like horror movies and sci-fi. I love Underworld and Underworld Evolution and yes I can seperate that some of the "dark" agents are actually fighting against evil.

no one thinks that Magic the Gathering & Dungeons and Dragons are "demonic and designed to teach Satanism."
the real issue is, how do you spend your time? Jesus said love God with all your mind, heart, soul and strenghth, and love your neighbor.
this involves doing alot of things, for example praying, serving people in one way or another. helping those who are poor and unfortunate. studying the Bible and spiritual books.
there was a 19th cent. Christian writer named G. K. Chesterson who wrote, "I should think very little of a man who didn’t keep something in the background of his life that was more serious than all this talking—something more serious, whether it was religion or only drink.”

I am a Biblical Christian (one of those Fundie Xians) and I do not think that any of the games you listed teach Satanism.
I agree with you, we must look at the overall purpose of the game, and most games are "good vs. evil" with the good side winning in the end.
Take Diablo, for example, are you not killing demons in that game? Or Doom?
I think what us "fundie xians" don't like about games like these is not so much the promotion of paganism or multi-deities, it's the sheer amount of violence, blood and gore associated with them.
We should be careful not to get too desensitized to violence and death and I think that is the main argument against them.
You can also make arguments against certain games, take Duke Nukem for example, that promote an unhealthy view of sexuality and pornography.
As for Harry Potter, it is what it is. At least the author is very upfront about it. I am more concerned with movies like Ice Age 2 and Chicken Little that claim to be for children and yet contain curse words and thinly-veiled attempts to poke fun at organized religion in them.
Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, send me an email.
EDIT-- Oh and as for SpongeBob, I have only been subjected to watching 5 or 6 episodes of it from my niece, but I haven't seen ANYTHING in it to indicate that SpongeBob is gay. I really don't see anything wrong with that cartoon, but as I said I haven't seen a lot of it.
EDITEDIT- I think Chess and Spit make very valid points. How do you spend your time? Our lives here on Earth are finite. We can chose to spend time growing closer to the Lord, or chose to waste time on recreational activities.
All in all, I think these games are fine, but reading scripture and talking about God are a BETTER use of your time. It's like Paul says, everything is lawful for me, but not everything is expedient for me.
