I believe you must die to the ego, thus being reborn in soul. As long as one has physical desires (the ego is the last to go) they will keep reincarnating back to the physical plane (Earth) in order that their physical desires can be quenched. Once the passions of the mind are transcended, heaven is attained.

Before you go any further, Jesus means that we must put our old life behind us in order to follow him. Some people who are fundamental Christians and are "born again' have a completely different meaning.

Yes
John 3:3 Jesus replied, “What I’m about to tell you is true. No one can see God’s kingdom without being born again.”

Yes. Jesus did indeed say that unless a man (or woman) be born in water and spirit he/she cannot enter the kingdom of God. This does not refer to "born again" so-called Christians. NOT that kind of "born again." To be born again in water is to be baptized in water and to be cleansed of one's sins. To be born of spirit is to receive the sacrament of confirmation wherein one receives the Holy Spirit to give him/her strength. Jesus saved you when he died on the cross. It is God's grace which will get you to heaven. To be born again is to be renewed in Christ Jesus.

Yes. Sin has no place in Heaven. Which means that you have to put your old sinful nature to death and be reborn of the Spirit as a new creation.

Yes definitely and you can only be "born again" if you accept Jesus Christ as your savior - then you are a "new creation in Christ."

The one universal rule in all religion to get to heaven:
Treat others as you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes.
Few people follow that, Christians included. (however Christians follow it more closely if other members of their church are present)

More to the point, how come nobody can go to heaven unless they die first? It all seems pretty lame to me.
