A father shouldn't be nice. Fathers are parents holding down responsability and they aren't meant to be your friends. Thats the biggest mistake parents make.

Their have been many good father through out time, and I doubt their is one personality. I think a good father will take an active role in their childes lives. Simply being a provider is not going to make a good father. Going to work, and coming home and going to bed is not going to do it. You just need to be in your childs life.

Good fathers come with lots of different personalities. The good father is one who waits to see what kind of child he has, and uses his best traits to teach his children. There is no perfect father. As long as you know always that your Dad loves you, you can overlook most anything else that he may do wrong in trying to raise you.
It's one thing to love your children, and completely another for them to 'know' you love them. Kids should always know that no matter what - their parents will love them.
Some children require structure and disciple, some require space and independence, some do better with rewards for good behaviour and some with punishments for bad behaviour.
A really good father just knows when the right time for each of those is, and trys to apply it.

A father needs to be..
1st... A friend.. That listens to, Plays with, And gives advise about problems your child has.
2nd.. A parent.. Remind them that they can't do everything they please and that boundaries apply.
3rd.. An enemy.. When those boundaries have been passed, Let them know they will be punished. And don't be afraid to follow through with the punishment.
Mix it all with a ton of love and you have a perfect father..

I don't really know cause my father wasn't there for me when I needed him cause my parents are divorced.
I think that he should listen to me when I tell him my problems,he should support me in whatever I do,he shouldn't ignore me,he should be calm and he should love me.
