Given his attitude (...knows it's not right...) are you sure that you want to be with him again? If you do get back together, what are the chances that it will last? It might be best to remain just friends, and move on in the romance department.

Why did you break up two years ago? The problems you had that caused the break-up will always be there. If you still have feelings for each other after two years, maybe you are meant to be with each other. Just tell him you want to try again with him. If he says no then don't force it.

Sorry to be brutal, but if a relationship didn't work the first time it will probably not work the 2nd either. Its possible you should just remain friends.
