I didn't get any jewlery for my girlfriend this christmas and she got mad at me because I didn't. In fact she told me that one of ther friends boyfriends got her a necklace. This was 2 days before. So, why do women like jewlery?

Mostly because of what it signifies. For example, diamonds are rare and each is individually unique. So giving one to your girl is like saying you're my one of a kind. I think it was rude of her to get mad about that though. I like jewelry and I'd be ecstatic if my fiance would buy me something but I'm not going to get mad at him because he didn't. I'd hate to get something like that on an "expected day" anyways. Rather if he ever would buy me some I'd like to be surprised with it on just an ordinary run of the mill day. Sounds like your girl is high maintenance. SORRY, and good luck with that.

You're dating the wrong girl. Some girls like jewelry for a status symbol. Your GF is in competition with her friend. And to get mad at you for not getting the right gift is really rude and greedy. Not every girl is like this. You should find one who isn't.

It's not always about the jewelry; it can be about the fact that you thought enough of her to give her a pretty piece of jewelry. You are getting her some for Valentines Day??

I like jewlery because it makes me feel pretty-but I do not like anyone else buying it for me--I like picking it out and trying it on and I do not like guys buying me stuff like that..but that is just me

It's a matter of preference....many women do.
But i'm a woman and I HATE jewelery.....when my fiance got me hiking boots I was ecstatic!!! lol

cuz jewlery is expensive and thats what women care about. its spending your money on them.
